We did quite a bit of traveling during Kaden's 6th month of life. I wish we went to somewhere warm, but no, it was to places even colder than home! First we went up to Covenant Point in the UP (Upper Peninsula of Michigan) with our church's youth group for a retreat. Kaden and I stayed with friends nearby, but camped out in the dining hall during the day. It was really cold and Kaden didn't particularly enjoy the walk to and from camp. He was inside most of the time though and was a trooper considering he was in a different environment/setting. We also traveled to Minnesota! We stayed with GGpa-John's Grandpa, and we also got to spend some time with my cousin Kirsten and her family. We got to meet new baby Ayla too! We had a great time, although like most weekends, time went too fast. I wish we had a few more days up there! Plus, the drive to MN was sooooo long-10 hours due to several accidents. We sat in traffic -which was not moving at all!!!- for almost 2 hours! Kaden got to "drive" for a bit.
This month, John's mom retired from working at the library, so the family went to see her last story time. It was so memorable, and Kaden enjoyed it too! She will still be able do story time for our family/her grand kids I'm sure!
Kaden has been "talking" a lot more these days! He loves to say "awww" "oooo" "ohhh" etc. I love it!!! He also makes funny noises and is constantly moving his mouth and tongue. Kaden totally wants to crawl and move around even more so than before. He tries so hard, and he gets on his hands and knees from the sitting position, but he can't figure out how to move yet. It is so cute and exciting to watch him. He also is able to stand on his own for a few seconds. When holding on to something he is able to stand by himself for a while too. Kaden has been much more observant this past month. He notices the buttons and zippers on clothes and when we go to the store, he loves to look all around. I can tell he is taking in so much information! This month Kaden has had a more difficult time of sleeping. I'm not sure what caused him to wake up in the middle of the night and unable to get himself back to sleep. It was just frustrating when he had been a really good sleeper consistently sleeping for 11-12 hours straight for quite a while. I'm hoping it was just a growth spurt/developmental growth or something and that he will get back to his previous sleeping habits. Kaden has now been sleeping on his stomach during some of his naps (last month it was his side), and a few nights ago, I actually saw (on the monitor) him on his stomach at night.
