Lindahl News & Kaden's 3rd Month

First a Quick Note About Me:  I went back to the lab for a 2 hour glucose test, and I DO NOT have diabetes!  Yay!  I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes when I was pregnant, and was told that it would more than likely go away within hours or days of delivery.  I didn't think I would still have diabetes, but I was still a little worried about taking the test.  I am so thankful that I do not have to test my sugars or eat on a strict diet.  I have soo much respect for those people including my cousin who have diabetes and have to test their sugars, constantly watch what they eat, and possibly give themselves insulin.

Kaden is 4 months + old!  He is still a big boy!  When we went to the doctor for his check up he weighed 19 pounds 2 ounces, which puts him up in 96% for his weight and was 26.5 in. and still in the 91% for height.  The doctor said that Kaden can start solids any time now to 6 months.  I don't know if I am ready for him to start solids yet.  He probably is more ready than I am though.

Kaden is drooling/spitting a lot again!  He took a break for a week, and I thought that he was done with that stage, but nope.  The drooling/spitting is back which means the bibs probably need to be too.  The past few weeks, Kaden hasn't been taking a bottle.  We have tried many times, and with other family members, but he refuses.  My mom and aunt were successful and got him to take a bottle after 6 hours.  Any suggestions you have are welcome!  Kaden's doctor recommended trying a sippy cup.  Her son wouldn't take a bottle from 6 weeks old on, but would take a sippy cup -interesting!  We have tried different positions, areas in the house, a couple different bottles, and nothing has seemed to work.  Kaden used to take a bottle just fine when he was younger, but we didn't give him a bottle unless someone besides me was watching him.  I guess he got smart.

Play Time:  Kaden loves to play in the play/activity mat.  He especially loves looking at himself the mirror, and the play mat has one.  Kaden also has been playing a lot with his little football and orange oballs.  He can easily grab and put them in to his mouth.  He tries to put most things in his mouth including toys, blankets, his fingers, and even our hands/fingers.  Kaden still loves his swing, and the mobile that is attached to it.  He is going to be too big for it soon, which will be a sad day for him.   He recently showed interest in the exersaucer we got from friends.  Tummy time is still not his favorite, but he is doing sooo much better and will stay on his tummy for several minutes without fussing...which is a huge step for us.  He hasn't rolled over, but we are working on it, and he is sooo close!  Kaden can roll over with some help from us, but he still hasn't figured it out on his own.

This Thanksgiving, we traveled to Omaha.  It was fun because a lot of my extended family was there.  We were able to go to the Husker game while my mom and aunt watched Kaden.  It was very fun, but really sad that we lost to Iowa.  We also played games, went in the hot tub, visited friends, and ate delicious food which included Swedish pancakes, DQ ice cream cake to celebrate my uncles birthday, and of course the Thanksgiving meal was very yummy too!

I still can't believe that it is mid-December!  Fall just flew by!  John and I had fun decorating our house for the Christmas season and trying to remember how we decorated it last year.  We bought a new artificial tree since our old one was way to small.  John was excited to put his train around the tree.  It still works!  He got it from his grandpa who had it when he was a boy. This year we are celebrating Christmas with the Lindahl family.  The extended Lindahl family is coming here to the Chicago land area.  Merry Christmas to you!  I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

These are some of the crafts Ellie has been working on lately!  This is about 1/5 of her crafts, she took the others home and this is what was left!  Ellie LOVES crafts... and glitter!  We also spent a whole morning sorting out a bag of beads by the color!

Random Side Note/Question:  Does anyone know how to organize pictures easily on this kind of blog?!  I always have so much trouble placing the pictures how I want them.  I want to have a few pictures on the same line so it doesn't take up so much space. Plus my blog page always looks different when I preview it!
