Kaden's 9th Month

I must say that this month, and Kaden's development/personality has been my absolute favorite so far! Kaden is becoming so much more interactive and fun to play with.  We play "cat and mouse" all the time.  Kaden loves to "chase" after John and I, and then loves it when we chase after him.  We play a lot of peak- a-boo too.  Kaden also is able to play on his own for a while too, which is nice.

Kaden has become very attached to his crib toys; his hippo lovey and Mr. Frog.  We started putting them in his crib around 3 months, and he noticed them occasionally.  This past month, Kaden has become attached to them.  In the mornings when I come get him, Kaden has both toys in each hand and will not let me take him out of the crib without his toys.  If he drops one he sits right down and grabs it before I can get him out. Also, at bed time,  when I put Kaden down he searches for both of his toys and starts off the night sleeping with one in each hand...So Cute!!  He also plays with them before and after his naps.  I can see him doing all of this because of the video monitor we have...and I must say that I really enjoy seeing what Kaden is doing in his crib.

Kaden said his first real word this month, and now he says it all the time!  Hat. Hat. Hat. It's not too surprising that hat is his first word since we pretend to put cups and other random objects on our heads and say "hat".  I also have been trying to get Kaden to wear a real hat, but he hates them :( and I'm sad because I think hats look so cute on babies.  Kaden loves playing with hats, but doesn't want himself or anyone else to wear one for too long.  We also went on a family bike ride with Kaden in the Burley for the first time. We all wore helmets, which he called a hat, and Kaden was not a fan of the helmet!  He was very upset that he couldn't take it off, so our bike ride was pretty short...a trial ride rather, but fun nonetheless.  We hope to go on longer bike rides this summer.

We bought a baby pool for the backyard.  Although we have only played in it a couple of times, Kaden has enjoyed splashing and playing in the water.  We also got pool passes for the summer and have been to the pool once already.  Kaden enjoyed the pool, and we are looking forward to many pool days and cabin lake days this summer!

Still no teeth for Kaden this month.  I am betting he will get one or more next month!  Kaden still loves to eat whatever solid foods we give him.  He has been introduced to some new foods this month; beans, graham crackers, cottage cheese, mandarin oranges, and chicken legs.  He loves everything else, and I can't think of anything he doesn't like.  Kaden is always a huge mess when he eats, and to top it off, he has been pulling his bib off continuously.

This past month has been another busy month for our family.  We had a wedding in Grand Rapids and John was a groomsman in it.  John's parents came up to stay with some of their friends and they watched Kaden over night during the wedding and reception.  John and I had so much fun hanging out with friends and dancing.  Thanks Deb and Wes!  Over Memorial Day weekend, John went up to the UP with some guy friends to help get the family cabin set up for the summer.  Kaden and I hung out at home and he had fun playing with his cousins at their house.  We have been busy planting flowers and doing yard work around our house.
