Lindahl News & Kaden's 3rd Month

First a Quick Note About Me:  I went back to the lab for a 2 hour glucose test, and I DO NOT have diabetes!  Yay!  I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes when I was pregnant, and was told that it would more than likely go away within hours or days of delivery.  I didn't think I would still have diabetes, but I was still a little worried about taking the test.  I am so thankful that I do not have to test my sugars or eat on a strict diet.  I have soo much respect for those people including my cousin who have diabetes and have to test their sugars, constantly watch what they eat, and possibly give themselves insulin.

Kaden is 4 months + old!  He is still a big boy!  When we went to the doctor for his check up he weighed 19 pounds 2 ounces, which puts him up in 96% for his weight and was 26.5 in. and still in the 91% for height.  The doctor said that Kaden can start solids any time now to 6 months.  I don't know if I am ready for him to start solids yet.  He probably is more ready than I am though.

Kaden is drooling/spitting a lot again!  He took a break for a week, and I thought that he was done with that stage, but nope.  The drooling/spitting is back which means the bibs probably need to be too.  The past few weeks, Kaden hasn't been taking a bottle.  We have tried many times, and with other family members, but he refuses.  My mom and aunt were successful and got him to take a bottle after 6 hours.  Any suggestions you have are welcome!  Kaden's doctor recommended trying a sippy cup.  Her son wouldn't take a bottle from 6 weeks old on, but would take a sippy cup -interesting!  We have tried different positions, areas in the house, a couple different bottles, and nothing has seemed to work.  Kaden used to take a bottle just fine when he was younger, but we didn't give him a bottle unless someone besides me was watching him.  I guess he got smart.

Play Time:  Kaden loves to play in the play/activity mat.  He especially loves looking at himself the mirror, and the play mat has one.  Kaden also has been playing a lot with his little football and orange oballs.  He can easily grab and put them in to his mouth.  He tries to put most things in his mouth including toys, blankets, his fingers, and even our hands/fingers.  Kaden still loves his swing, and the mobile that is attached to it.  He is going to be too big for it soon, which will be a sad day for him.   He recently showed interest in the exersaucer we got from friends.  Tummy time is still not his favorite, but he is doing sooo much better and will stay on his tummy for several minutes without fussing...which is a huge step for us.  He hasn't rolled over, but we are working on it, and he is sooo close!  Kaden can roll over with some help from us, but he still hasn't figured it out on his own.

This Thanksgiving, we traveled to Omaha.  It was fun because a lot of my extended family was there.  We were able to go to the Husker game while my mom and aunt watched Kaden.  It was very fun, but really sad that we lost to Iowa.  We also played games, went in the hot tub, visited friends, and ate delicious food which included Swedish pancakes, DQ ice cream cake to celebrate my uncles birthday, and of course the Thanksgiving meal was very yummy too!

I still can't believe that it is mid-December!  Fall just flew by!  John and I had fun decorating our house for the Christmas season and trying to remember how we decorated it last year.  We bought a new artificial tree since our old one was way to small.  John was excited to put his train around the tree.  It still works!  He got it from his grandpa who had it when he was a boy. This year we are celebrating Christmas with the Lindahl family.  The extended Lindahl family is coming here to the Chicago land area.  Merry Christmas to you!  I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

These are some of the crafts Ellie has been working on lately!  This is about 1/5 of her crafts, she took the others home and this is what was left!  Ellie LOVES crafts... and glitter!  We also spent a whole morning sorting out a bag of beads by the color!

Random Side Note/Question:  Does anyone know how to organize pictures easily on this kind of blog?!  I always have so much trouble placing the pictures how I want them.  I want to have a few pictures on the same line so it doesn't take up so much space. Plus my blog page always looks different when I preview it!

Kaden's 2nd Month

I can't believe how fast our little boy is growing!  It is crazy how big he is getting and how time just seems to fly by!  Each stage of a child's life is so different, and fun to experience- some stages more than others.  Now that Kaden is almost 3 months, he is getting more predictable.  He is able to sleep a lot longer at night, and go to bed earlier.  Kaden is big for his age.  At his two month appointment, he was 91% for height and 94% for weight.  Maybe Kaden's growth will slow down soon, but as of now I am already finding some 6 month clothes to be too small for him...yikes!  But he fits into most 6 month clothing and still some 3-6 month clothing as clothes sizes vary so much.

Random side notes:  Kaden likes to stick out his tongue a lot these days and continues to love sucking on his thumb.  He has been drooling a lot recently and always has little spit bubbles on his mouth.  Tummy time is getting better/longer.  Kaden is almost too big for the Bumbo even though he probably is just now "allowed" to be using it.  His feet are huge too, and is currently wearing sock sizes 12-24 months (they are a little big on him, but fit much better than the other socks we have).  Kaden is getting more hair although it is so blond that it's hard to see it unless you are looking in the light-he will most definitely be a toe head. :)

We take so many pictures of Kaden, but here are a few of our growing and sweet boy!  These pictures range from 2 months until now...almost 3 months (not in any specific order).

Deck Project

John has been working so hard on building our deck.  He had some help building it from his dad and brother-in-law, Jed.  The goal was to finish it before Kaden arrived, but due to the limited allowed working hours, it wasn't quite done until shortly after Kaden's birth.  Since it's been built, we sure have enjoyed using it!

K + K Wedding

My cousin, Kate, got married a couple weeks ago to Kevin. Both John and I participated in the wedding.  John played trumpet and I was a bridesmaid.  It was a wonderful wedding for a lovely couple!  It definitely was a challenging day trying to figure out what to do with Kaden because John and I were both in the wedding, and since I'm breastfeeding that was another challenge.  But, everything ended up being just fine!   Both John's and my family helped out a lot!  Kaden did great during the wedding with both grandmas watching him.  Actually neither our moms will be called grandma.  Deb, John's mom, will be Memo, since that is what my niece named her. And my mom will be Mormor, Swedish for mother's mother (grandma).  The reception was a little more challenging with Kaden. After a while, Deb and Wes offered to take Kaden back home with them, and we were able to get some dancing in!  We were very thankful!  John and I had a blast dancing, hanging out with family and friends, and taking pictures in the Photo Both.   I absolutely love weddings, especially family weddings.  It was so much fun spending time with my extended family!  Congrats to Kate and Kevin!  Thanks to my Dad for all of the pictures.

A New Way of Life

Time sure seems to fly by!  Kaden is already more than a month old and is getting so big!  At his one-month appointment Kaden was 22 1/2 inches tall and weighed 11 lbs 5 oz (from 7 lbs 14 oz at birth)!  He was already wearing 3 month clothing weeks ago, and he only continues to get bigger each day!  He is starting to smile, play, and make cooing noises.  I sat in bed the other night listening to him make sweet noises as he watched the projected pictures on the ceiling from the sound machine. It was also funny to hear Kaden laugh in his sleep the other day!

Our family of three has already gone on two road trips!  We went to the cabin in the UP with some friends over Labor Day. We also went to Omaha to visit my family, and my friend and her son. We even got to go to a Husker game while my mom was nice enough to stay behind and babysit!  Kaden did awesome on the road!  At first, we were a little unsure about the long road trips with our little one, but as we were told, kids are actually easier to travel with when they are younger.

It's crazy to think that summer is over... in the school year summer vacation kind of way.  Really, it's just a weird feeling that I am not back at work, and I often feel like I still am on summer vacation.  I am loving my new job!  I know I've said it before, but I am so grateful for the opportunity to stay at home and take care of Kaden as well as my nieces Ellie and Maja.  Some of the fun activities we have done are baking together, playing at the park, going on walks, going to our church's play group, and playing library, bakery, witch, doll house, and coloring etc!  Ellie also goes to pre-school for 3 mornings a week.
