Cabin Vacation in the UP

We were up at the Lindahl cabin over the 4th of July week.  Like I said in Kaden's 10th month post, the mosquitoes were just awful, but we had a great time!  Surprisingly, Kaden didn't react or get any kind of bite marks on him unlike me and my countless bites all over my body.  Kaden just loved being by the water and playing in the sand.  He enjoyed "swimming" in the lake on the warm days, and he also went on his first boat ride.  We went in to town and saw the 4th of July parade and also watched the firework show in the evening.  Papa stayed home with the two sleeping little ones.  Every year, we celebrate 5 birthdays up at the cabin; Jed's, John's, mine, Anne's, and Wes' birthdays are all a few weeks apart spreading from mid June to mid July.  Deb plans the birthday party and has a surprise theme.  This year it was happy bird-day.  Deb decorated the cabin with birds, and we wore bird-like masks too.  I got a lot of these pictures from Deb-thanks!, and she isn't in most of them unfortunately.  John's grandpa was also able to spend time with us at the cabin as well.

Kaden's 10th Month

Kaden John is 11 months old!  It's crazy to think that he will be one year old in one month!  Kaden is in such a fun stage of play, but I bet babies just keep getting more and more fun and engaging the older they get.  Kaden is a funny boy to say the least.  He gets this big grin on his face and attacks John and my face and gives slobbery "kisses".  He thinks it is so funny.  Kaden is still loving to play peek-a-boo and will grab the blanket and give it to us so we know he wants to play.  Kaden loves putting his head in things and finding "caves".  Recently he discovered dumping out a cloth bin of stuffed animals and putting his head inside of it.

Kaden has added two more "words" to his vocabulary of "hat".  He now says "hiiiiiiii" and waves at the same time, and he says "uh-oh".  I can't count the number of times I hear him say these words each day!  It is really cute.  Kaden is such a smiley boy, and he has such an adorable smile...and he doesn't have any teeth inside his mouth!

Kaden has been walking here and there.   On average he takes a few steps before falling, but he has taken 12 baby steps multiple times.  He also likes to jump while he's standing. He has great balance and is so strong, I'm actually surprised he isn't already walking even more, but I'm not going to push it too much because once he knows how to walk, I know I will be chasing him all over!  He likes doing the trick of sticking his butt in the air and looking under his legs.  Someone at the Library said we should start a baby yoga class, ha.

Kaden is in the stage of putting his hands in his hair while he is eating...and is even more of a mess!  He still shovels food into his mouth like he hasn't eaten in days.  I definitely know that Kaden's favorite food is Mandarine oranges.  He also loves blueberries and really loves everything that he is given!   We tried out a new sippy cup with a straw to see if Kaden would actually drink his water instead of spit it out, and it worked!

This month we went up to the Lindahl family cabin for a week over the 4th of July.  Even though the mosquitos were awful, we had a great time!  Kaden enjoyed the water and went completely (minus his head) in the water two days and played by the shore the other days that were cooler.  Kaden loved playing in the sand, although his favorite toys were the buckets full of water.  He would occasionally try to put sand and rocks into his mouth, so we had to monitor that.  Kaden also got to go on his first boat ride.  He hated the life jacket, it was so snug on him, so when we unzipped it a little he didn't mind it as much.  His favorite part though was steering the boat!  (I will post more cabin pics on another post...there were way too many to pick from!)
